I would appreciate some cold, honest feedback on product "quality" from anyone who own the Grizzly (G3102) or Harbor Freight (40939) 6x26 vertical knee mills. I can get the HF shipped to my door for $1600 while the Grizzly runs $2900. That's a hell of a price delta.
Oct 03, 2012· As I recall the motor/head is the same as the Sieg X3 or Super X3. My X3 has a two-step cog-belt drive whereas the SX3 is direct. I have both the X3 and SX3 with a variable speed range of about 100 or 200 to 2,000rpm and there's plenty of power there - including tapping.
Nov 01, 2013· The Taig has easier conversion path but with less capacity for tool holding. Just to really mess with you, The only bad thing about the Taig, LMS, and Micromark is the price. At that price, you are getting near the price of an X3 such as the Grizzly G0704. It is a lot more machine.

I was a Production Line Mechanic for MANY years, and we made our own parts when one broke, as the machines were made in 1947 and no longer in business.

Oct 21, 2020· Look at the Precision Matthews PM-25 as well, it is very similar to the G0704, same size, and about the same price. PM has a good reputation here, and the PM25 supposedly has some improvements vs the G0704. I think these are a nice size mill, bigger than a mini-mill but still not too hard to find space for in a small shop.
